SUMMARY:World Information Architecture Café
DESCRIPTION:Taxonomies help connect users to content and improve findability over keyword searches alone. As such\, taxonomies should be created so that they are customized to the content and to the users. In this presentation\, Heather Hedden addresses how to go about this. Content analysis and term extraction are methods to make a taxonomy match its content\, and user interviews and brainstorming sessions are methods to make a taxonomy suit its users. \nClick the button below for more information about this World Information Architecture Café series event and how to register. \n \n Visit Event page

SUMMARY:Webinar: Knowledge Graphs for Information Professionals
DESCRIPTION:ON-DEMAND WEBINAR \n \n \n \n \n \n KNOWLEDGE GRAPHS FOR INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS\n \n WATCH ON-DEMAND\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker\n Heather Hedden\, Communications Manager & Knowledge Manager\, Semantic Web Company\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date\n August 17\, 2023\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n There is a growing interest in knowledge graphs to organize information and make it findable in organizations with large amounts of data and content. Unlike prior technologies such as big data or federated search\, a knowledge graph has a structure that is typically based on taxonomies and ontologies\, and as such needs to involve taxonomists\, information architects and other information professionals.   \nKnowledge graphs have more benefits than just information findability\, including discovery\, analysis\, and recommendation. Knowledge graphs bring together content and data\, and both unstructured and structured data. This technology gives organizations the framework to optimize workplace structures and processes\, thus improving the employee experience and quality of service to customers.  \nThis webinar explains the problems knowledge graphs aim to solve\, definitions and history of knowledge graphs\, knowledge graph components (data in a graph database\, taxonomies\, and ontologies)\, building a knowledge graph\, and example applications that information professionals can use. \nTake-aways:  \n\nUnderstand what a knowledge graph is and what its distinguishing features and components are\nRecognize the benefits of a knowledge graph\nKnow how a knowledge graph is built\nBecome familiar with standards and the industry around knowledge graphs\n\n  \n \n WATCH ON-DEMAND\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Heather Hedden\n Communications Manager and Knowledge Manager \n Heather Hedden is Product Communications Representative – Americas and Knowledge Manager at SWC.
