SUMMARY:KMWorld 2023
DESCRIPTION:Organized and produced by Information Today\, Inc.\, KMWorld and its co-located events\, Taxonomy Boot Camp\, Enterprise Search & Discovery\, Text Analytics Forum\, and Enterprise AI World\, showcase organizations which have creative digital strategies for their future\, are allowing experimental and risk-taking processes to inform their practices\, have made solid progress in changing the culture of their enterprises\, and know how to utilize AI and other technologies in practical and useful ways to charge forward in their industries. \n \n \n \n \n \n As platinum sponsors\, we have a representative delegation giving talks and waiting for you at our PoolParty booth. Look at all the options you have:  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Taxonomy 101 WorkshopThis introductory taxonomy tutorial covers key concepts to get you up to speed for the rest of the conference or helps prepare you to take on a role in a taxonomy project. Topics include the uses and benefits of taxonomies\, comparisons\, and suitable applications of different types of taxonomies/controlled vocabularies\, taxonomy standards\, sources for taxonomy concepts\, best practices for developing terms and their relationships\, and tools for managing taxonomies. \nEvent:Taxonomy Boot Camp \nDate:Monday\, November 6\, 10:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. \nSpeaker:Heather Hedden\, Knowledge Manager\, Semantic Web Company\, and author of The Accidental Taxonomist \n See more details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Challenges in Creating Taxonomies for Learning & DevelopmentTaxonomies can help provide a foundation to align skills to learning content. Simpson discusses Walmart’s current effort to push learning content to associates by providing them skills for their current and next role and recommend learning paths. Hedden looks at issues involved in coming up with taxonomy of skills. \nEvent:Taxonomy Boot Camp \nDate:Monday\, November 6\, 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. \nSpeakers:Heather Hedden\, Knowledge Manager\, Semantic Web CompanyAmber Simpson\, Senior Manager\, KM & Digital Learning\, Walmart Academy – Walmart \n See more details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Intelligent Content—Bringing Together Knowledge Graphs & Large Language ModelsLarge language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT are a hot topic. But can we trust them to give us the right answers to questions or make the right decisions? One possible answer to these challenges is to combine these generative technologies with knowledge graphs that can help explain the results and support the generation of high-quality data to train the models. Combining generative AI and symbolic AI can ultimately lead to eXplainable AI (XAI) that can help in our daily work. Nagy shares the advantages of merging both technologies\, shows how knowledge graphs help to create better and explainable results with generative technologies\, and also shows how generative technologies can help to create better knowledge graphs.  \nEvent:Text Analytics Forum \nDate:Wednesday\, November 8\, 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. \nSpeaker:Helmut Nagy\, COO & Strategic Product Manager\, Semantic Web Company \n See more details \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Communities of Practice for Knowledge SharingCommunities of Practice (CoPs) can be invaluable for connecting people with common goals and interests and facilitating the sharing of knowledge\, resources\, and more. Heather Hedden joins a panel of speakers\, where she presents on external communities of practice\, including examples of a software product user community and a taxonomy community. \nEvent:KMWorld \nDate:Wednesday\, November 8\, 10:45 – 11:30 a.m. \nSpeakers:Heather Hedden\, Knowledge Manager\, Semantic Web CompanyRichard Huffine\, Chief\, Library and Public Information\, Federal Deposit Insurance CorporationKendra Albright\, Goodyear Endowed Professor in KM\, School of Information\, Kent State University \n See more details \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Generative AI\, Context\, & Knowledge ModelsWhen search technologies moved from the web to the enterprise\, the incorporation of knowledge models (taxonomies and ontologies) provided more accurate and complete search results. Now that we are looking to bring LLMs (large language models such as ChatGPT) and generative AI from the public web to inside the enterprise\, there is again a role for knowledge models to provide better results. The subject domain and context can also make a difference. The advantages of combining a taxonomy/ontology with generative AI and limiting it to a subject domain is explained and demonstrated. \nEvent:Enterprise AI World \nDate:Wednesday\, November 8\, 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. \nSpeaker:Heather Hedden\, Knowledge Manager\, Semantic Web Company \n See more details \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Industry Leaders on AI & KM: Are Knowledge Graphs the Way?Our industry leaders share case studies of how knowledge graphs are revolutionizing KM programs. Gordon Hayden discusses supporting green strategies with enterprise knowledge graphs\, an ideal platform to use in the environmental\, social and governance (ESG) domain. SUMMARY:Webinar: What's New: PoolParty Recommender
DESCRIPTION:ON-DEMAND WEBINAR \n \n \n \n \n \n WHAT’S NEW: POOLPARTY RECOMMENDER\n\nA recommender for the modern digital workplace\n \n WATCH NOW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker\n Andreas Blumauer\, CEO & Co-founder\, Semantic Web Company \nLorenzo Tosi\, Data and Knowledge Engineer\, Semantic Web Company \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Date\n Replay from October 17\, 2023 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Towards recommendations that actually help\nAs consumers we are used to recommender systems that give us a series of “Others also bought” or  “You might also like” suggestions. In the workplace\, these types of recommendations aren’t particularly useful because they often suggest more of the obvious and don’t factor in the requirements of employee queries. \nWhat is a smart recommender system and how can it help in the digital workplace?\nEmployees have specific tasks; they must write a report based on new regulations\, provide customer support for a product issue\, and close a deal based on a prospect’s use case – to name a few. To accomplish each of these tasks\, the employee must extract and assemble information that fits and complements the specific work context at hand. \nSmart recommender systems in the digital workplace do not produce trivial ‘more of the same’ information\, but understand to some extent how information actually fits together. \nWith the upcoming release of the new PoolParty Recommender\, we are helping knowledge workers complete their often complex work steps more efficiently and error-free with a knowledge-based recommender system. \nThe PoolParty Recommender is tailored to your organization and its specific knowledge domain\, making them more accurate than any approach using only machine learning. \nJoin our webinar to celebrate this new release with us\, and dive into the details with CEO Andreas Blumauer: \n\nWhat is a knowledge-based recommender system?\nThe PoolParty Recommender Workbench: how its methodology and technical capabilities set it apart from other recommenders on the market\nCommon use cases found in the workplace\nDemos of the product\, including how it can be used in a front-end user application\n\nAfter this webinar\, you will understand: \n\nHow the PoolParty Recommender overcomes the limitations of collaborative filtering and content-based algorithms\nHow organizations especially benefit from a domain-specific model\, AKA a recommender that’s built specifically for you\nHow to easily integrate the PoolParty Recommender Workbench with your existing software\n\nWe hope to see you there! \n \n WATCH NOW\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speaker\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Andreas Blumauer\n CEO & Co-founder\, Semantic Web Company \n Andreas Blumauer is CEO and co-founder of Semantic Web Company (SWC)\, the provider and developer of the PoolParty Semantic Platform. Considering the complexity of the topic and the vast amounts of data consumed within this domain\, ESG requires the use of a dedicated knowledge management strategy and systems. \nThis workshop will explain why Semantic AI and knowledge graphs should have a fundamental role in ESG strategies and will: \n\nIntroduce ESG and cover the challenges associated with it\nSurvey a collection of practical use cases \nPreview a core ESG knowledge model \nExplain how the knowledge model can be extended into a knowledge hub\, among other solutions\n\nDate:Wednesday\, 20 September\, 15:00 – 18:15 \nSpeakers:Andreas Blumauer\, CEO & Managing Partner\, Semantic Web CompanyDr. Lutz Krüger\,  Business Development and Sales Representative for Germany and SwitzerlandHeather Hedden\, Knowledge Manager\, Semantic Web Company \n See more details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Interoperability in Data Spaces II: Use Cases\, Tooling\, GovernanceThe increasing number of data spaces and data markets in Europe\, as well as the related funding lines and regulations by the European Commission regarding the sharing of industrial\, personal\, and research data\, clearly shows the need to discuss\, specify and realize data interoperability between such data spaces and beyond. \nAs a follow-up to the June 2022 workshop Data Spaces & Semantic Interoperability\, this workshop will explore and discuss the current tool and best practice landscape regarding syntactic and semantic interoperability in data spaces. With participation of DataBri-X project (lead)\, Semantic Web Company\, IDSA\, University of Galway\, Glaciation project\, ERCIM\, and champI4.0ns\, the workshop will comprise two main parts\, followed by discussion: (1) an experts panel to discuss syntactic and semantic interoperability\, and (2) a series of lightning talks from the Call for Participation – Position Papers. \nDate:Wednesday 20 September\, 9:00 – 16:15 \nWorkshop Co-Chairs:Martin Kaltenböck\, CFO\, Semantic Web CompanySebastian Steinbuß\, CTO\, International Data Space Association \n See more details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Responsible AI based on LLMSAn important distinction between Explainable AI (XAI) and Generative AI is that users of an XAI model can interpret and understand the logic behind the machine’s output. Especially in the case of using unstructured data\, there is clear sourcing\, traceability\, and mapping between the logic of concepts. Based on this principle\, the PoolParty Team has worked extensively with a partner’s machine learning capabilities and PoolParty’s graph-based metadata to develop a one-of-a-kind Insight Engine that delivers fact-validated insights for operational and financial risks.  \nThe PoolParty Team has worked extensively on a demo application that combines the strengths of an LLM with Semantic AI – an Explainable AI whose sourcing you can trust. Using a knowledge graph that models the Environmental – Social – Governance (ESG) domain\, our demo PoolParty Meets ChatGPT\, adds an additional layer to ChatGPT that not only provides more comprehensive answers but also enrichens the answers with sources from the knowledge graph. \nDate:Thursday 21 September\, in Session 1.5 Knowledge Graphs\, 10:45 – 13:00 \nSpeaker:Andreas Blumauer\, CEO & Managing Partner\, Semantic Web Company \n Conference program\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Fostering Data Spaces interoperability with Language Models and Knowledge GraphsThe speakers present an approach to making use of Language Models and Knowledge Graphs in Data Spaces and Data Markets to foster data exchange and semantic interoperability. \nInteroperability and language are the key enablers of efficient and sustainable data sharing among organizations\, either in a certain industry or across industries\, in the form of data trading or as data collaborations. Semantic interoperability requires referenceable models\, including common metadata standards and quality certificates\, as well as adequate language resources. \nThe presentation will explain the principles of Data Spaces\, describe pros and cons of large vs. small language models\, draw the problem statement of interoperability for value-added data sharing\, and present the solution approach – including real world examples – of using Knowledge Graphs and Language Models to foster multilingual interoperability in Data Spaces. \nDate:Friday\, 22 September\, 14:00 – 14:45 \nSpeakers:Martin Kaltenböck\, CFO\, Semantic Web CompanyIlan Kernermann\, CEO\, Lexicala \n See more details\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Fusing Semantics and Property Graphs to Power Enterprise Recommender SystemsKnowledge graphs technologically developed into two distinct directions. The Semantic Web stack provides standardised technologies for semantic descriptions\, interoperability and reasoning\, whereas the property graph domain is focused on high-performance problem solving based on graph structures. \nThis talks presents an approach to bring together these two domains to build a knowledge-based enterprise recommender that is powered by a semantic knowledge graph and that processes the recommendations using Neo4j and a property graph representation. The use case is presented of of analyzing ESG-related documents and supporting the writing of ESG reports by providing intelligent insights into ESG standard documents. A live demo of the prototype based on an ESG use case will be presented. \nDate:Thursday 21 September\, in Session 1.1 Reasoning and Recommendation\, 10:45 – 13:00 \nSpeakers:Robert David\, Chief Innovation Officer\, Semantic Web CompanyJesús Barrasa\, Head of Solutions Architecture for EMEA\, Neo4j \n \n Conference program\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Streamlining Data Intelligence: A Unified Platform for Managing and Analyzing Process Data in Industrial SettingsSebastian Gabler presents a cutting-edge platform designed to address the challenges associated with managing and analyzing process and process-analytical data in industrial settings. SUMMARY:Henry Stewart DAM New York
DESCRIPTION:Semantic Web Company is participating for the first time in a Henry Stewart DAM event\, the leading conference and virtual event producer in the field of Digital Asset Management. DAM New York is the  largest global conference dedicated to Digital Asset Management and the vital role DAM plays in digital transformation. DAM has evolved from a siloed creative tool to a major enterprise strategic application. Attendees will benefit from real-world case studies\, interactive panels\, workshops and roundtables\, plus an additional day of pre-conference tutorials. \nAt this year’s annual DAM New York\, listen to SWC’s Product Communications Representative and Knowledge Manager Heather Hedden speak on the panel “Taxonomy is What Powers DAM.” DAM and other enterprise systems built on metadata rely on taxonomies to identify\, find and group assets so you can put them to work. \nThe first two panelists will speak on the role of an enterprise taxonomy to support the goals of the enterprise and how to improve a taxonomy and identify and address gaps. Heather will speak on taxonomy management best practices\, that a taxonomy should not be confined to a single single DAM system\, and that you need to consider how a DAM taxonomy should relate to other taxonomies across the enterprise. Success involves taxonomy alignment\, linking\, and governance that promotes consistency and facilitates the search for assets and information across different systems. \n \n \n \n \n \n Click the button below for more information about HS DAM New York 2023 and how to register. \n \n Visit Event page

Indeed\, a notable drawback of generative AI\, and large language models (LLMs) in particular\, is their tendency to often generate superficial and inaccurate information that\, moreover\, does not provide any provenance information. \nWhile it has become clear in recent months that generative AI and especially LLMs\, on which ChatGPT is also based\, are arguably fundamental building blocks of an enterprise-grade AI architecture\, this needs to be complemented by other technologies and measures in order to speak of responsible AI. In particular\, governance models and legal frameworks have yet to be put in place\, as will be mandated\, for example\, by the EU in its forthcoming AI Act\, to provide sufficient assurances to all stakeholders (investors\, companies\, citizens and consumers\, etc.).  \nIn this webinar\, Michael Iantosca (Avalara) and Andreas Blumauer (Semantic Web Company) discuss the merging of LLMs and semantic technologies\, in particular how knowledge graphs can be used in combination with services like ChatGPT to develop applications that combine the best of both worlds to lead to responsible\, explainable generative AI.  \nQuestions identified as critical\, particularly for regulated industries\, will focus on: \n\nWhat is the role of high-quality\, well-structured training data? \nHow should the ‘human-in-the-loop (HITL)’ design principle be evaluated in the context of LLMs? \nWhat AI applications for regulated industries\, e.g. around ESG standards\, are realistic in the immediate future?\n\nMichael and Andreas have been working on the fusion of different AI\, content and knowledge technologies for several decades\, and at the end of this webinar still dare to look into the future to discuss and contrast different scenarios with more or less usable\, respectively responsible AI. \nWe hope to see you there! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Andreas Blumauer\n CEO at Semantic Web Company \n Andreas Blumauer is CEO and co-founder of Semantic Web Company (SWC)\, the provider and developer of the PoolParty Semantic Platform. SWC has grown every year since its inception under his leadership\, and has been able to develop a cutting-edge and unique software platform that is ISO 27001 certified\, and deployed globally across a number of key industries. \nA high profile partner network has been built around this platform\, implementing scalable semantic AI platforms for his clients\, many of whom are among the largest and most innovative companies in their industries. \n XLinkedIn\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Michael Iantosca\n Senior Director of Content Platforms\, Avalara \n Michael Iantosca is the Senior Director of Content Platforms at Avalara Inc. Terminologies harmonize language\, make sure everyone uses consistent and correct words\, and try to avoid chaos from the outset. \nOrganizations obviously require both\, so it is only natural for Semantic Web Company and Kaleidoscope to integrate their two platforms and offer a combined taxonomy and terminology management solution. \nThis presentation and demo show you: \n\nhow to connect your PoolParty taxonomy to the Kalcium terminology suite\nand add terminology benefits to your existing data:\n\nhuman-grade\, rich metadata\, organizational decision workflows\, and automatic guidance in word choice for authors and translators alike\n\n\n\nDon’t miss your chance to hear these two knowledge leaders – Register now! \n \n Register Now\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Klaus Fleischmann\n CEO\, Kaleidoscope \n Klaus Fleischmann studied translation and IT in Vienna\, and holds an MA in Conference Interpreting from Monterey\, California\, and a MAS in Technical Communication from Krems\, Austria. Our webinar\, led by Helmut Nagy\, COO at Semantic Web Company\, and Michael Iantosca\, Senior Director of Content Platforms at Avalara\, will break it down in the following ways: \n\nWhat is enterprise search?\nHow to extract entities from text with machine learning and/or taxonomies\nIncorporating ontologies to enable named entity recognition\nConcept-based tagging and how it can be paired with an enterprise knowledge graph to contextualize the content\nRecipes towards structured content and how that can improve content delivery and grant personalized user experiences\n\nUsing Semantic Understanding in Content AND Structure\nThis webinar will guide viewers toward how better enterprise search can be used in real-world applications. Say you’re a contract department and you’re interested in locating paragraphs in various documents that pertain to penalties\, which are spread across multiple databases and maybe even departments. A simple search is painstaking\, but an enterprise search powered by semantics allows you to find specific articles down to the very sentence that mentions the penalty you’re looking for. \nTo achieve this\, the search engine needs to semantically understand not only the content but also the structure of the document. There are standards such as DITA that focus on generic structures. Combined with knowledge graphs\, this can be turned into a methodology for semantically understanding the structure of documents. This allows for more precise text analysis\, as we can focus on using the right methods for the different contexts of a document. In this webinar\, we will illustrate this principle with use cases\, demos\, and methodology. \nRegister now to watch the live broadcast! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Helmut Nagy\n COO\, Semantic Web Company \n Helmut is Chief Operating Officer of the Semantic Web Company (SWC).
