Our webinar\, led by Helmut Nagy\, COO at Semantic Web Company\, and Michael Iantosca\, Senior Director of Content Platforms at Avalara\, will break it down in the following ways: \n\nWhat is enterprise search?\nHow to extract entities from text with machine learning and/or taxonomies\nIncorporating ontologies to enable named entity recognition\nConcept-based tagging and how it can be paired with an enterprise knowledge graph to contextualize the content\nRecipes towards structured content and how that can improve content delivery and grant personalized user experiences\n\nUsing Semantic Understanding in Content AND Structure\nThis webinar will guide viewers toward how better enterprise search can be used in real-world applications. Say you’re a contract department and you’re interested in locating paragraphs in various documents that pertain to penalties\, which are spread across multiple databases and maybe even departments. A simple search is painstaking\, but an enterprise search powered by semantics allows you to find specific articles down to the very sentence that mentions the penalty you’re looking for. \nTo achieve this\, the search engine needs to semantically understand not only the content but also the structure of the document. There are standards such as DITA that focus on generic structures. Combined with knowledge graphs\, this can be turned into a methodology for semantically understanding the structure of documents. This allows for more precise text analysis\, as we can focus on using the right methods for the different contexts of a document. In this webinar\, we will illustrate this principle with use cases\, demos\, and methodology. \nRegister now to watch the live broadcast! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Helmut Nagy\n COO\, Semantic Web Company \n Helmut is Chief Operating Officer of the Semantic Web Company (SWC). Michael spent 38 of his 40+ years at IBM as a content professional and pioneer – leading the design and development of multiple generations of advanced content management systems and technology that began at the very dawn of the structured content revolution in the early 80s. Dual trained as a content professional and systems engineer\, he led the charge building some of the earliest content platforms based on structured content. Michael was responsible for forming the team at IBM that developed DITA XML – the most successful and widely adopted open standard for developing user assistance and other structure documentation.\n XLinkedIn

SUMMARY:World Information Architecture Day - New Hampshire 2023
DESCRIPTION:What is the contribution of taxonomies to information architecture? Join Heather Hedden\, Data and Knowledge Engineer at Semantic Web Company\, for this 1-day event at Southern New Hampshire University\, Manchester\, NH. \nHeather will hold a workshop for “Taxonomy Creation.” Look at the description of the workshop: \nTaxonomies help connect users to content\, and they improve findability over keyword search alone. As such\, taxonomies should be created so that they are customized to the content and to the users. How to go about this will be addressed in this interactive workshop. Content analysis and term extraction are methods to make a taxonomy match its content\, and user interviews and brainstorming sessions are methods to make a taxonomy suit its users. Following an explanation of different taxonomy types and features\, exercises will include analyzing a document for candidate concepts\, looking at the results of a term extraction tool and of a search log report. Small breakout groups will then brainstorm a taxonomy structure and top terms to serve the identified users. \n \n \n \n \n \n Click the button below for more information about the event and how to register.   \n \n Visit Event page

Knowledge hubs are built on a knowledge graph\, which can be understood as a multi-dimensional search index that can even be used to uncover hidden knowledge. \nDeveloping Knowledge Graphs to form the base of a solid Knowledge Hub\nIn this webinar\, two pioneers and experienced company founders and CEOs explain the strategic importance of developing knowledge graphs in the enterprise as an essential building block for any information architecture and AI strategy. \nKnowledge graphs are not only the foundation for knowledge hubs\, but also for many other cognitive applications (document intelligence\, recommender systems\, …) that your company is probably currently planning to develop or has already developed. Using different use cases\, we will describe how knowledge hubs can be used and how the underlying knowledge graphs are furthermore used in different industries. \nWe will also present the key success factors in developing\, operating and evolving knowledge graphs\, which make a real difference compared to mainstream enterprise search: \n\n\n\nFormal domain knowledge that allows for intelligent interpretation of the meaning of the information and deriving deeper insights\nSemantic metadata that augments documents\, and other information artifacts\, with formal descriptions using\, and referring to\, the domain knowledge model\nText analysis tools that allow for the automatic generation of the semantic metadata\nTools for evaluation of the text analysis models and quality control\nEnterprise-grade storage and indexing infrastructure \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Andreas Blumauer\n CEO & Co-Founder\, Semantic Web Company \n Andreas Blumauer is CEO and co-founder of Semantic Web Company (SWC)\, the provider and developer of the PoolParty Semantic Platform. SUMMARY:The North American Collaboration Summit
DESCRIPTION:We are sponsors of the North American Collaboration Summit 2022\, the place to learn how to harness the power of your Microsoft 365 investments including SharePoint! \nOur colleague Heather Hedden\, Data and Knowledge Engineer at the Semantic Web Company\, will host the following session: \n“ENHANCING TAXONOMY AND TAGGING IN SHAREPOINT”\nAre you wondering how you can improve the quality of search results from tagging in SharePoint? The Term Store is more than just a place to store terms (tags or metadata). Full taxonomies with browsable hierarchies\, search-support synonyms\, definitions\, multilingual terms can be supported and utilized in multiple ways. Leveraging a taxonomy’s benefits\, however\, requires creating a taxonomy according to best practices and standards and applying the terms with consistent tagging policies\, which can be further enhanced with semi-automated tagging. \nThis session will provide tips for creating better taxonomies\, a look at the Term Store’s capabilities and limitations\, recommendations for enterprise taxonomy governance\, and a solution for auto-tagging integration with the SharePoint to ensure efficient\, comprehensive\, and consistent tagging\, which results in improved content findability and user satisfaction. \nBe part of it on October 12-14\, 2022! \nConference registration (Register early for a reduced rate) \n \n Visit Event page

SUMMARY:Bite-Sized Taxonomy Boot Camp London 2022
DESCRIPTION:Semantic Web Company Data and Knowledge Engineer Heather Hedden will participate at the bite-sized taxonomy boot camp on October 12 as a speaker. She will explain practical tips for setting up taxonomy governance. \nHier is a short description of her talk: Too often\, taxonomy governance is the ‘poor relation’ of a taxonomy project\, and yet putting in the effort to get it right pays off in the long-term. Taxonomies that are well-managed stay relevant\, correct and useful. Heather has a wealth of experience and distils it into this session. \n\n\nClick the button below for more information about the conference and how to register.  \n\n\n  \n \n Visit Event page

While the naming mainly reflects the need or the perspective from which the topic is viewed\, in the end\, we are talking about connecting data silos and diverse data. The goal is to remove the friction and cost of accessing and sharing data in the distributed ICT environment that is the norm. Along with Noel Yuhanna\, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forrester\, Andreas Blumauer\, CEO of Semantic Web Company will introduce you to the content hubs. In this webinar you will learn: \n\nWhat are content hubs?\nWhat they can be used for in enterprises?\nHow do they differ from other integration technologies? and\nWhat role do they play in your data and content strategy?\n\nOn top of that\, learn how machine learning\, NLP techniques\, and knowledge graphs can be combined to build scalable and robust enterprise content hubs. At the end of the webinar\, our speakers will dive you into more detail through live demos and outlining specific use cases. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Andreas Blumauer\n CEO & Co-founder at Semantic Web Company \n Andreas Blumauer is CEO and co-founder of Semantic Web Company (SWC)\, the provider and developer of the PoolParty Semantic Platform.
